The potential for marketing this program is vast.....
- On February 2, 2006 the Detroit News ran an article discussing the
program, its availability and content. This generated a great deal of
interest, both in Ensuring Harmony and my behavior programs in general. The
article can be viewed at

- In March of 2006, I was interviewed by Charity Newbe on All Things
Considered, National Public Radio regarding the importance of a strong plan
when bringing new baby into a household with pets.
When Christie Meyer first approached our Health Promotions Department here at
Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital, we were a little skeptical. The idea behind the
Ensuring Harmony class was intriguing, but no one had offered anything like it
in our area so we were unsure of how well it would be attended. When hospital
staff members showed interest in the content of the program, we decided to give
it a try.
Within a few months of offering Ensuring Harmony at our Howell location, we
had parents driving from over an hour away to attend this class. Recently, we
have decided to add the program to another hospital location to meet the demand
that it has generated.
I highly recommend Ensuring Harmony as a part of any Pre-Natal education
program. Many couples adopt a pet as their first child, and the initial
transition of bringing a baby home can be difficult. By knowing what to expect,
parents can be prepared to deal with what lies ahead and even prevent problems
before they come up.

This program is one of the best ideas to come along for professional trainers
in a long time. It will add another dimension to your training programs, as well
as provide your clients with an important and much needed service.
I will be adding it to my curriculum at Tarheel Canine, and will encourage my
students to use it to provide education to the community as well as develop
contacts for training and behavior modification services. It is a small
investment with a big payoff for any professional obedience trainer.

Ensuring Harmony highlights a great need that we have for preventative safety
with kids and dogs. It is something that we don't pay nearly enough attention
to, and it is something that could result in detriment to both kids and dogs. I
look forward to spreading the message via Creative Paws, Inc. in the Chicagoland
area.

When I was first expecting my first child, I began to worry about how I could
possibly balance my animals and a newborn baby. As a veterinarian, I realized
the task at hand was not only going to be challenging, but daunting as I had
heard many of my clients experiences and struggles when it came to interactions
between their children and pets. My pets (primarily cats and dogs) were the
original "children" in our family and it was going to force them to make major
adjustments when our new baby came home.
Shortly after learning of my pregnancy, I was lucky enough to come across
literature about a class that was offered at our local hospital about this exact
subject, Ensuring Harmony.
The information that I learned in this class was priceless. the suggestions
were practical and easy to apply and made our home a more comfortable
environment for all of its members- animal and human alike. Not only have I used
the suggestions and techniques I learned as the class when my child was a baby,
but it has dramatically helped us through the transition from a small helpless
baby to a fearless and challenging toddler. We learned how to appropriately
allow interactions between child and pet including acceptable play, reward and
discipline.
I highly recommend Ensuring Harmony to all parents- whether new parents or
experienced parents who need help with the challenge of pets with children. This
course is fast, fun and easy, not only to understand but also to use.

We really enjoyed attending the Ensuring Harmony program. We utilized many
aspects, and found the suggestion of sending home the receiving blanket most
effective. Our dog welcomed our child as though already a part of the family.
Your enthusiastic, outgoing, entertaining presentation style made our experience
most enjoyable. We were especially grateful to be able to follow up with you for
training after the class.

When we discussed the idea of having a baby with others, many people
cautioned us that we may be forced to get rid of our pets. I can't believe how
many people feel that pets are a danger to children. The Ensuring Harmony
Program reassured us that although things may change, it is possible to live
successfully all under one roof. Thank you for creating this class and
dispelling so many of the hazardous myths that are out there.
