Dogs and cats that share our lives
truly do have the distinction of being four-legged
family members. They sleep on the bed, provide
emotional support, force us to get up and go for a
daily walk and share our lives in all other aspects.
The thought of loosing this companionship can be
devastating.
However, new parents will never
know exhaustion like they will experience in the
first few weeks after their baby's birth. From that
point forward, relationships change and priorities
are different.
It is imperative that new parents
become aware of how these changes are likely to
affect their pets. By understanding this, parents
can wok to avoid the development of potential
behavior problems including destruction,
inappropriate urination and aggression.
The statistics are undeniable.
Problem behavior is the number one reason for pet
relinquishment and euthanasia. At some point, there
was a fracture in the owner-pet bond that took
place. Typically that fracture occurs due to the
onset of a behavior problem that is never addressed,
and then becomes too much to live with.
YOU would not be reading this
if you did not have a strong bond with your
four-legged family member. By educating yourself
and being prepared, you will be better able to
PREVENT issues before they arise and you will know
when it is time to seek outside help before your
bond is fractured.
